MiningWatch Canada is excited to announce that Kirsten Francescone has joined our staff as Latin America Program Coordinator. Kirsten brings a strong commitment to social justice and comes to us with many years of experience working with activists, networks, and decision-makers in Canada and internationally.
Kirsten replaces Jen Moore in this position. MiningWatch owes Jen an enormous debt of gratitude for her seven and a half years of tireless work on behalf of communities affected by mining across the region, and we will continue to take advantage of her skills, dedication, and thoughtful analysis – just in a new role as a consultant, from her new base in Mexico.
Kirsten is very excited to be part of the committed team at MiningWatch Canada, and to contribute to an organization whose response to irresponsible policies and practices in Canada and around the world continues to be instrumental in effecting social and political change.
MiningWatch welcomes Kirsten’s dedication to social and economic justice and her academic and on-the-ground research and organising experience. We are especially pleased to have someone with such a rich background and a strong skill set join us at a time when our work is increasingly in demand, and we look forward to the new energy and new ideas that Kirsten brings.
