Prime Minister Mark Carney continues his sweeping rollback of regulations, research, and protections — everything from shuttering the 139-year-old Nappan agricultural research station in Nova Scotia to cutting back pharmacare, from assigning himself and his cabinet the power to override crucial legislation on food safety, pesticides, species at risk and fish habitat, to a litany of assaults on the environment and climate policies that are documented by Canada’s Climate Backtracker, and billions cut from foreign aid and global health.
The list is long, and growing longer.
The latest casualty in Carney’s cutting spree is the corporate watchdog, the Canadian Ombudsperson for Responsible Enterprise (CORE), which the prime minister says he is eliminating.
