Last Saturday, I had the great honour and surprise of receiving the “Allumettières” Recognition Award from the regional Fédération Intercoopérative de l'Outaouais, including for the commitment and work done with Coalition Québec Meilleure Mine and MiningWatch Canada.
This award, which was as unexpected as it is appreciated, is really heartwarming.
Like these “Allumettières”, pioneers of the first women's labour union movement in Quebec more than 100 years ago, I would like to dedicate this award to all those people who fight for a just and equitable world, with respect for the water, the air and the environment that surrounds us all, because the fight is often long, difficult and strewn with pitfalls.
This rings especially true today, on this national Indigenous Peoples’ Day in Canada.
