25 Years: A Bedrock for Mining Justice

Val Croft

Communications Lead

MiningWatch Canada celebrates its 25th anniversary this year as the only national organization in Canada solely dedicated to protecting peoples and the planet from the impacts of mining.

In acknowledgement of this important milestone, we’re launching “25 Years: A Bedrock for Mining Justice,” a fundraising campaign to raise $100,000 to scale up MiningWatch and strengthen our capacity to prevent mining in sensitive ecosystems, ensure new laws prioritize people and the environment, and build climate solutions that centre justice and human rights.

Please donate here.

If you require a tax receipt, please donate to MiningWatch’s sister organization, the Canary Research Institute for Mining, Environment, and Health. More information here.

We’re working to bridge the divide between how mining happens and how it should. Importantly, we’ve seen a rise in global awareness about the long-term impacts of industrial mining. Affected communities are approaching us for support at earlier stages in mine development, better equipped to advocate for healthier outcomes, or stop a bad project altogether. The stakes remain high, however. The energy transition is being used as justification to deregulate and expand mining into ever more remote and delicate ecosystems. Our planet is being put at greater risk for greater profits.

There is much work to do. In acknowledgement of MiningWatch’s 25th anniversary, please join us in making a financial contribution towards mining justice.
