25 Years: A Bedrock for Mining Justice

MiningWatch Canada celebrates its 25th anniversary this year as the only national organization in Canada solely dedicated to protecting peoples and the planet from the impacts of mining. In acknowledgement of this important milestone, we’re launching “25 Years: A Bedrock for Mining Justice,” a fundraising campaign to raise $100,000 to scale up MiningWatch and strengthen our capacity to prevent mining in sensitive ecosystems, ensure new laws prioritize people and the environment, and build climate solutions that centre justice and human rights. Analysis on Bill 63 in Quebec, An Act to Amend the Mining Act and other provisions

On May 28, Québec’s Minister of Natural Resources and Forests, Maïté Blanchette Vézina, tabled Bill 63, an Act to amend the Mining Act and other provisions. The Coalition Québec meilleure mine (QMM) carried out an exhaustive analysis of the bill. In this brief, we present our general comments and proposed amendments.
